Gymnasium for youth through GPDP…

Ward No 8 of Rajwada Bhagwan Panchayat, Musahari block of Muzaffarpur district is situated just beside the river and is a severely flood-prone area, the inhabitants of this area could fetch some yield in Rabi season only as the rest of the season, it remained flooded. Families who used to live here have belonged to mostly extremely backward castes (EBC) and scheduled caste (SC) caste and they are forced to live below the poverty level as there are not enough livelihood options in their vicinity.

With the help and assistance from the PCTB phase II project, a trained and experienced ward-level child protection committee exists there. The members of the WCPC always encourage children to go to school, and even they assist families in enrolling their wards in admitted in schools. They used to attend the Ward Sabha and Gram Sabha when called for by Mukhia of the panchayat, put forward their issues/demands in the Gram Sabha.

During a meeting of WCPC, one member raised the requirement of equipment for the exercise which was very essential for the health of the children and youth who were residing in and around the ward. The president of the WCPC, Mrs. Pinki Devi along with members met Mukhia of the panchayat and attended the Gram Sabha and got this resolution endorsed with active assistance of the PCTB workers and volunteers. Members of WCPC received the information from the block for inclusion in the resolution through the receipt. Again, the WCPC pressurized the Panchayat Sevak to buy the equipment and install it in the Panchayat Bhawan as soon as possible. The work of installing this equipment was taken on priority and was installed under the full supervision of the WCPC. After the installation of the equipment, members of the WCPC encouraged all children and youth to go there and do the exercise.

With the tiring efforts of the WCPC, now the children and youth are going there and doing exercise in the park which in turn helps the health of these children. With this effort, members of the WCPC are also encouraged to identify new issues which are beneficial for the children and youth of the ward and putting forward to Gram Sabha.
